Frequently Asked Questions

Field Manual: Basic Protocols

What exactly do you do here?

We solve the digital crimes the police can't handle. When you open a Case File, you're stepping into a frozen crime scene. You get access to the evidence, logs, emails, corrupted files, and the tools to analyze it. Your job is to find the narrative hidden in the noise.

Do I need to be a coder or a hacker?

No. You need to be a detective. Luc Vernier built Lens so you don't have to memorize commands. If you can read, click, and think critically, you can solve a case. The hardest part isn't the tech; it's figuring out who is lying.

Who is Luc Vernier?

Luc is the architect of Lens, the forensic engine powering the network. He is the standard against which all investigations are measured. He doesn’t trust people, only data. If you submit the truth, you meet his standard. He’s difficult. He’s also the best.

What is a HeroCert?

It is the Network's official validation of competence. It means your investigation met Luc Vernier's exacting standards for evidence and narrative. It is a transferable, marketable credential that proves you can find the truth in the noise.

Do I have to sign in?

No. You can work anonymously. But if you want your name on the Case Board or a HeroCert with your name, you will need to identify yourself (GitHub or Google). Anonymity is fine for practice; reputation requires a name. Publishing your own cases or investigators requires GitHub so we can track contributions.

Can I submit my own cases?

Yes. The Network needs more eyes. If you have a story, a theft, a cover-up, a missing person, you can build the Case File and submit it. If it passes Luc's review, it goes live on the board.

Is this real?

The cases are fictional. The evidence is simulated. But the methods you use are real. The skills are real. The truth you find is real.
